STARS is an innovative evidence-informed service that supports children and young people in local authority care and on the edge of care to achieve better outcomes, covering the local authority areas of Nottinghamshire, Derby City and Nottingham City.
The STARS vision is to deliver an outcomes-based service which makes a long lasting difference to children, young people and their families and has a sustainable legacy across the three participating authorities, funded through a Social Impact Bond.
STARS is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of social workers, support workers, therapists, education staff and peer mentors who are trained in a mix of interventions. They work therapeutically to deliver high quality services to children, young people and families in the community using our evidence based model of Safer Stronger Families and Team Parenting. Our delivery model reflects a ‘one team’ approach to supporting children, young people and their families or primary carers in the community. The service aims to achieve stable placements for children and young people whether stepping down from residential care to fostering, or remaining at home with their primary carers where it is safe to do so.
